Dear Friends,
The wonder of Boulder never ceases to amaze me. As the community center filled on Wednesday evening, I was overwhelmed by the warmth, curiosity, and thoughtfulness of everyone who came to experience the Operation Babylift exhibit and presentation. Seeing so many of you—neighbors, friends, and new faces—engaging with this history was deeply moving.
History belongs to all of us. We each carry different experiences and perspectives, but when we come together to listen, reflect, and share, we create something truly powerful. Bringing this exhibit to Boulder has been one of the most meaningful things I have done. This community is my home, and my story—told through my mother’s journals, letters, and years of digging through forgotten files—is a part of our shared history.
I felt it in the room as you absorbed the story—waves of memories, emotions, and connections that were palpable. Whether you lived through that era or were hearing about it for the first time, we shared something together. That’s the kind of space we need more of—one where we can discuss the past, recognize where we are today, and think about what comes next.
So, what can we do?
We can create space for conversation.
We can listen to others and share our own stories.
We can stand up for what we believe in, not in division, but in a way that shapes the future with empathy and action.
This exhibit is about history, yes—but it’s also about the present and the future. Let’s make the history we’re creating today something we’re proud to pass down to the next generations.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of this.
Mucho Mahalos,
