In January 2024 I had an idea. I wanted to create a book. I wanted to thank the people that were involved with Operation Babylift for taking part in my being here today. I could write notes to them on my own, or maybe I could rally people, gather stories, images and notes and create a little book of some sort. I noodled around with the idea. I had the url: secretabilitytofly.com for years. It was a concept that originated down in San Diego with a friend who survived cancer as a young child. I had survived a plane crash. He survived cancer. After defying death - it was like you had this super power- we called it the Secret Ability to Fly: that was what I named the project. I found out that there was a gathering of adoptees in Boulder, CO in March and I got things ready. It was a great group of people. It was wonderful to meet them. But I did not collect the stories that I wanted to. At least in a way that I could share them. But what I did discover was that as much as the thanks you's were appreciated - what Sr Mary Nelle Gage needed was a plan for her boxes and boxes of paperwork.
